Full-time university students spend a lot of time studying, however they should perform other activities too. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In concurrent times, full-time university students are often occupied with extensive academic responsibilities. While studying is certainly their primary focus, I believe that engaging in other activities is equally important for their overall development, so pupils should not limit themselves solely to academic work.
To start with, involvement in non-academic activities contribute significantly to mental and emotional well-being. University life can be highly stressful due to frequent assignments, imposing deadlines, and examinations. However, participating in co-curricular activities, such as sports, arts and design, and music can enlighten one to embark on the path of learning about discipline, planning, and enhancing emotional intelligence, which perhaps help in future endeavors, and, indeed, engendering an option to escape from the mundane structural engagements. To corroborate, a study conducted by the department of education in Amity University, reported that around 60 percent of pupils partaking in endeavors out of formal syllabus, reported inculcating better overall personalities, apart from excelling in academics.
Moreover, activities outside the classroom offer students opportunities to develop essential interpersonal and practical skills, something that can be fostered through socialization. For instance, joining clubs exposes them to teamwork, leadership and communication. These skills play an important role in shaping their persona, and are considered valuable by employers. In many cases, experiences gained from such activities are as impactful as academic achievements in preparing students for future challenges. Furthermore, many argue physical undertakings help metabolize stress hormones accumulated while studying intensively, and assist in rejuvenating the mind and body, aiding one in focusing more intensively on studies.
In conclusion, although academics remain central to university life, full-time students should also be involved in other activities, as these contribute to their overall growth and development, and help them sustain pressure effortlessly.
