In the contemporary era, a bizarre phenomenon appears to be surfacing that trash is accumulating and people are disposing of waste much more than ever before. This phenomenon stems from several causes, and it is the need of the hour to find ways how the state can help mitigate this malady.

There are a myriad of grounds are fueling the situation of humongous garbage: amid rising population, the consumption by end users is increasing, thereby leading to rising levels of refuse. Moreover, some experts profess that it is also propelled by apathy towards and lack of awareness about environmental conservation, and this is encouraging the younger generation to follow the footsteps of their parents when they see them doing so.

To add fuel to fire, some environmentalists profess that the situation is compounded by the unavailability of public utility facilities to dispose and manage and recycle garbage for the general public, which ultimately forces them at large to get rid of their trash recklessly, causing piling up of wastage in colossal amounts.

However, various lobbies suggest that regimes can take umpteen steps to surmount this modern challenge: some commentators suggest that the state can also set up machines, similar to vending machines, which can exchange garbage with some credits, either monetary or non-monetary, thereby discouraging the citizens to litter the waste in open and keep it for machine to deposit. Additionally, creating awareness about the ramifications of surfeit rubbish for the environment can also go a long way in making people empathetic to the plight of the planet.

To recapitulate, although the situation seems to be spiraling out of control, owing to the imprudent practices deployed by people, it can be alleviated with joint effort of the government and the public at large.
