 More and more people are buying things on the internet to complete their tasks such as booking, shopping, book tickets. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?


The technical advancements have led people to buy things online in order to accomplish their needs. This practice has umpteen benefits, but ramifications too. The following paragraphs shall discuss both the aspects and conclude whether benefits outweigh the disadvantages.


Purchasing articles on the internet afford umpteen pros. One enjoys access to a variety of options on multiple websites and online stores for a single product. They can also compare prices of all the stores or sellers available, and if there is a sale at any store, they can make the most of it without even being physically present. Apart from that, one can buy goods or services like clothes, groceries, and book tickets, to name a few, at any time of the day. 


Moreover, e-commerce has proven to be time efficient since one can do other tasks simultaneously while browsing online. To corroborate a survey carried out by the University of California reveals that 80% of consumer goods and services are bought online today. On top of that, most of the sellers online provide free home delivery and return pickup too, to make it more convenient.


However, there is a darker side of this practice as well. It has a huge impact on local shopkeepers, their income has been reduced to almost half. To exemplify, grocers who are totally dependent on daily income, online stores have robbed them of their business, creating unemployment as a result as most are on the brink of closure. Besides this, it has ushered in an era of cyber crime as many subversive elements misuse this advancement for monetary frauds.


In hindsight, the practice of procuring things over the internet, although has certain pitfalls, this exercise has made the lifestyle  extremely convenient. Therefore, pros of this evolution eclipse its cons.
