Several women, in contemporary times, are seen pushing their age of becoming mothers further. This can be attributed to umpteen reasons. However, this phenomenon has favorable unfavorable ramifications that I shall delve into deeper into the following paragraphs.
To start with, numerous eminent behaviorists propound that education has played a significant role in changing the thinking pattern of females about opting bearing offspring. They prioritize accomplishment of professional pursuits in order to attain stability in life, by virtue of which, they feel more financially independent which enables them to become prudent decision makers in various realms of life. Furthermore, it has been observed that even after marriage, many take time to cherish motherhood as they want to explore their new phase and to develop better understanding with their spouses, which not only makes their bond stronger but also prepares them mentally to welcome their child. Therefore, this dynamism turns out to be a favorable phenomenon.
However, some skeptics assert that women opting for children in their advanced age are often found to be inflicted with several physical and mental health complications such as depression, diabetes, frequent abortion and many more, which reduces their chance of having a healthy child. Besides this, increased age gap among parents and wards tends to develop clashes between the two generations when the latter grows into an adult due to differences in their attitude; consequently, hampering harmony within families. Moreover, sometimes parents fail to take full responsibility for their wards due to physical constraints associated with their older age and thus, adversely affect the life of both of them.
Overall, even though motherhood at later age is associated with certain drawbacks, I feel that this propensity has offered several advantages to females in terms of better career and financial stability.
