A majority believe in saving a lion’s share of their earnings rather than spending it, but there are those who deny this fact and preach consuming it. In my opinion, having reserves is important for future needs, but  nonetheless performing some expenditures is also necessary for enjoying life.

Having more in the form of savings is crucial as this can have a profound impact on the present and the future. For example, with every passing year, inflation is rising and prices are spiraling, making it imperative to create a buffer to cushion for increased cost of living later. Also, Illness is another factor that requires a huge amount of money, as medical facilities are getting expensive day by day and affording them is becoming a luxury for many. Thus, keeping aside something for the rainy day has become the need of the hour as it can render financial stability and assurance of a secure future. This practice and thought has  dominated society since ages, and people have yielded rich benefits.

However, some are skeptical of the former approach, and profess following a lifestyle which is more relaxed, that entails spending a greater ratio than conserving money. This way of living is more concerned with enjoying life in the present and improving its quality. Such people are wedded to the thought that they have all the privilege to enjoy the exploits of their hard work. Moreover, since  the future is uncertain, there is little rationale to worry about the later years and sacrifice today for tomorrow.

To conclude, both approaches toward life have their pros and cons, but savings is more crucial for a better and safer future than spending huge amounts on things that will bring no value and contribute towards an unstable future.

Some people believe that sports has an important role in society. Others, however, feel that it is nothing more than a leisure activity for some people. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Some people believe that sports has  an important role in society. Others, however, feel that it is nothing more than a leisure activity for some people. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Some believe that sports activities afford numerous benefits to citizens. However, others believe it merely a pastime endeavor. Both the perspectives are augmented with plausible reasons.

Sports has  been hailed as a way to ensure sound physical and mental well being of society. Those subjecting themselves to such undertakings, even at amateur  level or simply as a way to spend some free time, are able to stay healthy. In modern times, consumption of junk food has increased along with the  stress that is leading to several health-related issues. Nevertheless, those involving in games like football, or hockey, are able to metabolize calories they consume and  the stress hormones they accumulate; and also build endurance, helping them evade  disease such as obesity, heart attacks and many more, and also afford themselves the ability to work for long hours.

Moreover, this domain has, today, manifested itself into a full-fledged industry that is not only providing enriching careers to talented players, but also generating direct and indirect employment for millions, and business worth billions. Similarly, governments are also drawing immense benefits in the form of revenues collected at various venues and stages involved in facilitating sporting activities.

Nonetheless, the other section harbors a view that sports does not bring economic advantages to everyone, baring those engaged in it, and it is only taken up when one has free time, like on weekends or when they go out on vacations. Except for  fetching temporary excitement, it fails to benefit those witnessing it as one may ape players, but still have to work to earn  their bread and butter.

Overall, despite skepticism among some, sports has emerged as one activity that does not only hold promises for sound health but also abundant employment and business opportunities. Thus, promoting it seems justified.

For all children, the ability to play a musical instrument is just as important as the ability to read and write. How far do you agree with this suggestion? How important is it for a child to learn to play a musical instrument, in your view?

‘For all children, the ability to play a musical instrument is just as important as the ability to read and write.’ How far do you agree with this suggestion? How important is it for a child to learn to play a musical instrument, in your view?

Many child behaviourists are of the opinion that playing music enjoys an equal significance as literacy skills. Although this may seem to be valid to a few, latter skills are critical for the development of youngsters, and hence cannot be compared with the former.

The comparison between basic academic abilities and the talent to use a musical instrument is founded on precarious ideas since the first skill is fundamental to the personality development of young ones. It is only through this, the young individuals will become capable of absorbing academic and a variety of worldly knowledge, which in turn will help them to grow up as well-informed and refined adults, whereas learning to play a musical instrument will only fetch them knowledge about an art form that sans moral and ethical teachings.

Moreover, educational skills are pivotal to the professional development of children who will one day take up work in disparate occupations, ranging in trades from a technician to a CEO or an entrepreneur, based on their academic feats, and not only make a living- that will help them secure their future- but also contribute to society, as well as the economic productivity. However, playing musical instruments is no more than a mere leisure activity.

Furthermore, playing music is the forte of  a selected few, the prodigies, having innate skills to differentiate and appreciate musical notes. Only the naturally gifted can produce music from an instrument, others will simply end up creating appalling noise, but literacy can turn novices into experts, regardless of their inclination, capable of excelling in their fields.

Overall, even though I do not discredit the potential of talented children who can play music, drawing parallels between academic and musical skills is quite inappropriate since literacy empowers people and promises progress.

The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing. Do you agree or disagree?

The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing. Do you agree or disagree?

The onslaught of online shopping portals has raised the likelihood of these overwhelming shops, and thus the latter might cease to exist. But will this really happen, or not has profoundly intrigued many.

The opinion of retail outlets shutting down their business in wake of fast becoming ubiquitous e-shopping is based on the assumption that as people are becoming more and more engaged in the professional and social pursuits, they are likely to have lesser and lesser time for an auxiliary activity like going for shopping.  They may prefer saving the efforts, time and money invested in visiting shopping districts, or even nearby outlets and get the things delivered at their doorsteps.

However, many commentators consider this probability as a mere illusion. In their view retail stores can never shut their shops due to the trust they enjoy among billions of shoppers, who cannot imagine buying anything without physically inspecting the merchandise. Besides this, one can hardly discount the impatient shoppers who cannot wait to lay their hands on the goods as soon as they buy. For such people online buying shall always remain a distant dream, thereby letting the stores continue.

On top of that, the charm of visiting retail outlets will refuse to fade because of those innumerable buyers who perceive this activity as a leisure. Visiting shopping centres allows them a healthy distraction from the daily humdrum and break the mundane; and socialize with their nears and dears, and peers. For such people going shopping is a ritual which fetches immense pleasure and that is irreplaceable by online shopping.

Overall, I fail to concur with this statement that stores will be superseded by online shopping. Despite rapid spread of new ways of buying things the retail outlets will never cease to exist.

The tendency of human beings to copy one another is shown in the popularity of areas such as fashion and consumer goods

As per a common perception, ubiquity of consumer goods is a clear illustration of innate skills of humans to ape each other. However, this statement can be challenged on certain grounds.

To start with, there are hardly any parallels to be drawn between the natural propensity of mankind to imitate each other and demand for goods such as clothing and gadgets, to name a few: most of the merchandise that is selling fast is by virtue of the quality  that has gone into manufacturing it. Regardless of who is buying it or not, most buyers make a beeline to procure products that have a proven track record, in terms of utility and endurance. This can be experienced in the case of certain gadgets such as mobile phones by Apple, which have been ruling the roost since last decade owing to their unmatched  quality and features.

To corroborate, a survey was carried out by the Consumer Attitude  Assessment Department of Apple Phones, which concluded that most of the buyers, almost 95% of subjects assessed, were swayed  by the quality of the goods they had bought and denied any other influence.

However, a view upholds the conservative thought that popularity of goods is driven by the craving among many to be a part of a society or community. Even though this may not hold  true to a great extent, there are some instances where purchases of specific kinds of clothing and devices are made to allow people to easily adopt a uniform look that their peers or social group sports.

Overall,  I feel that the notion of consumer goods being widely acknowledged highlights human tendency to copy each other, holds little  substance; many are driven by various aspects like quality and price while buying goods.

Experts say older people were happier and healthier in the past because they did more exercise and spent more time with family and friends, whereas many now suffer from loneliness and health problems. What are the causes of this and what are some solutions?

Old people are not exercising as much as they did in the past, and are lonely.   Concurrent times have witnessed radical changes in the lifestyles, and the worst affected are the elderly who unlike yesteryears suffer from isolation and are unable to engage in any health regime. There are several reasons to be blamed for this ,but there are ways to surmount this challenge.

The  primary reason for this phenomenon is the children leaving their homes and shifting to distant locales in the search of better employment and education, and they rarely return back once they achieve their goals abandoning  their aging parents on their own. This leaves those in their twilight years feeling desolate and insecure, making them restrict their outdoor activities greatly since with advancing age their ability to carry out their work on their own diminishes drastically which affects their physical,as well as mental health.

Similarly, even those who are living with their extended families are no better: their  children and their grandchildren are engaged in fulfilling their professional, academic, social and personal obligations and have little time to spare for their aged family members. The latter are usually found wandering aimlessly within their house as they have no one to accompany them outdoors or share their worries with.

However, there are certain remedies that can mitigate the situation. Communities should come forward to help senior citizens by establishing peer networks and facilities to help them  fulfill their desired objectives such as socializing, shopping and exercising,to name a few. Also, families should play their part by affording some time to their aging mothers and fathers.

Overall, modern ways of life and restructuring of families are taking a toll on the graying population and adversely affecting their physical and mental well being. Therefore, society and family members should take steps to alleviate miseries afflicting the older people.

Children are facing more pressures nowadays from academic, social and commercial perspectives. What are the causes of these pressures and what measures should be taken to reduce these pressures?

Children are facing more pressures nowadays from academic, social and  commercial perspectives. What are the causes of these pressures and what measures should be taken to reduce these pressures?

Nowadays, young minds are experiencing stressful conditions in various walks of life. This essay shall elucidate on the plausible reasons for this situation that is afflicting them and the numerous ways to mitigate the situation.

Young students feel compelled to excel in their school as they want to attend the premier institutes for their higher studies and the requirements of such institutions are extremely difficult to meet. Not only one has to have good grades in their academic courses but also be proficient in extra-curricular or social activities, in order to be considered for admissions.  Moreover, people want their wards to do well in life, and harbor high expectations from the latter that sometimes has a detrimental effect on their minds.

Similarly, many teenagers, in order to flaunt their possessions, face intense competition, forcing them to resort to extravagance to be in sync with the latest vogue; many companies target this segment with advertisements, to exploit this tendency.  Additionally, many get influenced by their peers to deviate from the rightful paths and pick up wrongful activities such as smoking, drinking etc.; leading to a caustic environment if they are unable to follow others from their cohorts.

There are plethora of measures that can be taken to surmount such challenges. Parents can play an important role, by having realistic expectations from their offspring. Also, they should render proper guidance on ways to manage peer pressure. Furthermore, campaigns should be run by schools explaining the ill-effects and the damage caused by smoking, drug addiction etc. so that the youngsters do not go astray

Overall, there are various different expectations being imposed on the young children. However, it is the responsibility of the parents and school administration to keep them away from such situations for their healthy development.

Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink. Other countries believe not having strict laws is a better policy. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink. Other countries believe not having strict laws is a better policy. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink

Yes?

  • It is scientifically proven that if very young people drink, they can hamper their health
  • Youngsters below a certain age lack maturity and consuming intoxicants can often lead them into misdemeanors

No?

  • When one has the right to live as per their wish:
  • They are  effective citizens,  by virtue of  fulfilling certain obligations, they also deserve to have a free will
  • Imposing restriction invites illegal behavior, and it has been seen that liquor is not made available legally, it is made available through illegal channels
  • Every human should have a free will to decide what they want to consume or not

In some parts of the world, one cannot consume alcohol  unless they attain a specific age, but other regions lack such stringent stipulations. Both the views are supported by partisan groups who cite plausible reasons for their opinions.

The regions that exercise  a strict control over the drinking age base this arrangement on scientific theories that youngsters, below a specific age, are in a tender age when their physiological development is still under way, and yet to attain maturity. At this age, consuming intoxicating drinks, might make them become vulnerable to certain life-long ailments that could affect their well being. Several studies have proven that those exposed to drinks like whiskey before the age of 18, might face deficiencies in their growth, and can often get afflicted with diseases like diabetes and hypertension, which can have an enduring impact on their health throughout their life.

On top of that, there is a justified apprehension about young individuals resorting to erratic conduct such as violence in inebriated state. By virtue of being immature, young individuals might attempt unlawful acts such as rash driving, or picking up fights at the slightest of instigations, hurting themselves and others.

However, some regions evade such prohibitive, believing it can cause evasion of rules, and promote illegal acts. It has been  observed that imposing limitations tends to invite rebellious reactions and people resorted to unlawful ways to obtain those means and material en masse, while permitting free availability of such material can bestow them with the obligation of controlling their behavior.

To recap, looking at both sides of the coin, it can be safely said that establishing a minimum age for consuming alcoholic drinks is a valid method since it can help protect youngsters from being exposed to various hazards.

Many people believe that big business in addition to generating profits should be involved in and responsible for the social life of the community. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion.

Of  late, several commentators have been suggesting that giant corporates who are thriving due to society should make a contribution to ameliorate the social life of those sharing the space with such establishments. Nevertheless, others counter this and assert that they are not obligated to do this by virtue of their financial contribution to the public money.

To start with, the opinion in the favor of businesses supporting and enhancing the social atmosphere of the locals stems from the belief that these prosperous commercial establishments have flourished on the resources such as land, minerals and so on, ownership of which rests the local populace therefore, becomes the responsibility of the former compensate the latter by creating conducive atmosphere of those residing around such organisations, by providing facilities like parks, clubs, community centers and sports clubs.

Similarly, these businesses have burgeoned by selling their goods and services to the locals. They have, in this way, generated humongous revenues and profits, which have helped them expand tremendously. Thus, offering something back to the community would only mean expressing their gratitude. This will be considered as an acknowledgement to the local support.

Nevertheless, those cynical of the former view assert that why should commercial organisations be compelled to engage in such endeavours when they are already parting with enormous sums of money paid on account of an array of taxes classified  as turnover, profit, income, environment and many more, to the government. Besides this, they are already contributing to the upheaval of the society by affording paid employment to several citizens.  Thus, this will be an unwarranted demand.

Overall, I partially concur with the statement and feel that such services should not be made a stipulation for commercial organisations, and it should be left at their discretion.
