Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink

Yes?

  • It is scientifically proven that if very young people drink, they can hamper their health
  • Youngsters below a certain age lack maturity and consuming intoxicants can often lead them into misdemeanors

No?

  • When one has the right to live as per their wish:
  • They are  effective citizens,  by virtue of  fulfilling certain obligations, they also deserve to have a free will
  • Imposing restriction invites illegal behavior, and it has been seen that liquor is not made available legally, it is made available through illegal channels
  • Every human should have a free will to decide what they want to consume or not

In some parts of the world, one cannot consume alcohol  unless they attain a specific age, but other regions lack such stringent stipulations. Both the views are supported by partisan groups who cite plausible reasons for their opinions.

The regions that exercise  a strict control over the drinking age base this arrangement on scientific theories that youngsters, below a specific age, are in a tender age when their physiological development is still under way, and yet to attain maturity. At this age, consuming intoxicating drinks, might make them become vulnerable to certain life-long ailments that could affect their well being. Several studies have proven that those exposed to drinks like whiskey before the age of 18, might face deficiencies in their growth, and can often get afflicted with diseases like diabetes and hypertension, which can have an enduring impact on their health throughout their life.

On top of that, there is a justified apprehension about young individuals resorting to erratic conduct such as violence in inebriated state. By virtue of being immature, young individuals might attempt unlawful acts such as rash driving, or picking up fights at the slightest of instigations, hurting themselves and others.

However, some regions evade such prohibitive, believing it can cause evasion of rules, and promote illegal acts. It has been  observed that imposing limitations tends to invite rebellious reactions and people resorted to unlawful ways to obtain those means and material en masse, while permitting free availability of such material can bestow them with the obligation of controlling their behavior.

To recap, looking at both sides of the coin, it can be safely said that establishing a minimum age for consuming alcoholic drinks is a valid method since it can help protect youngsters from being exposed to various hazards.
