Parents and family background have more influence than teachers of a young person’s learning and academic achievement. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In contemporary times, the learning, and academic performance of the young generation is much more influenced by their parents and family background than teachers. Formal institutions are the source of guidance, but cannot assure the same is being understood by the learners. This notion is concured with completely extent and will be discussed in this essay.

Youngsters spend more time at educational institutions and have numerous things to learn in a limited period of time. Within the span of a few hours, they have to cover their academic syllabus along with other extracurricular activities. They are seeking knowledge at formal tuitions and are not able to grasp all things at the same time. At home, parents provide them knowledge in comfortable methods with better understanding.

Moreover, as per the current scenario of pandemic, pupils are at home and seeking online classes and are more in touch with their mothers and fathers. Tutors at formal institutions have to pay attention to many learners at the same time. On the flip side, families have to guide only their offspring and are capable of dealing with them successfully.

Similarly,  people are aware about the strengths and weaknesses of their children and can tackle them accordingly. As per the survey done by the students at the University of Toronto, it was found that those learners, who were tutored by their parents and are not attending any formal tuitions, performed better than those opting for schooling due to the busy schedule of their parents.

To conclude, the young generation is more impacted by their family environment as they spend more time with their elders and excel personally and academically, which cannot be provided by a formal tutor due to limited time span and formal relationship.
