The world has evolved into a global village where people can access the goods and services available across the world. There is a lobby that believes instead of selling edible goods belonging to foreign countries, stores should deal with the local produce. This essay will justify the rationale behind their inclination towards the local food items.

The advent of globalization has opened up horizons for the consumers, in terms of food which can be brought in from any part of the world now. This has also irked many who believe that this might impact local communities unfavorably, so outlets should prioritize sales of domestic produce though others  contest this.

The goods from alien societies replace the shelves consisting of local food entailing the wastage of procured food items, thereby affecting the financial health of local producers, manufacturers as well as sellers. Besides this, the phenomenal price of the imported edible food adds insult to injury due to which a slew of people fail to afford them resulting in pronounced social fault lines between haves and have nots.

Furthermore, local markets bolster the natives by extending fresh and healthy edible merchandise while the products procured from others countries takes several days to arrive in the destination nation, and a wide array of preservatives, as well as chemicals, are utilised to preserve them and to make them look fresh owing to which they fail to retain the nutrients.

However, many propose allowing sales of overseas food products. This would render consumers opportunity to enjoy a rich profusion of delicacies from all over the world to satiate their palate. This practice will aid in enlightening them about a variety of exotic edible items available across the length and breadth of the globe, enhancing their worldview. Moreover, the exchange of products will help in fostering the bonhomie among different nations simultaneously, boosting their economies.

Overall, the positive aspects of selling local produce completely eclipse the merits of imported food items since the former would be of great afford for the society in terms of price, health, and so on. Hence, I concur with the statement.
