There is a lobby that believes people should use cars in the metropolitan areas. However, there are a few voices of dissent suggesting that cars can cause more harm than good so they should be substituted with bicycles. This essay will discuss both the views and share a logical conclusion.

Many have hailed the proposal of utilisation of cars in urbanised locations owing to several parameters. Such vehicles enable the commuters to save the most imperative commodity which is time. Since nowadays, people in urbanised locations have overburdened themselves with professional engagements which leaves little time with them to devote to their families, and if they go for other means of transit system, it will exacerbate the situation. Moreover, this mode of transport renders an opportunity to the individuals to spend lighter moments with their nears and dears while travelling together and fostering a plethora of memories to cherish.

However, there are those who outrightly reject this inclination. As per them, riding bicycles results in saving the natural resources for the future generation by mitigating the devastating impact on the environment by virtue of fossil fuels which expands the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere on combustion, and in cities there are consumption and pollution galore due to these vehicles. In the contemporary era, people in urban centres are leading sedentary lifestyles which makes them vulnerable to a plethora of diseases such as obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular problems, and so on, deploying active travel in the regular routine can help travellers to incorporate some kind of exercise in their lives which will keep them fit, healthy and active.
