Ielts Essay Museums and Maintenance

Museums although hold an important place in any society, escalating costs have made it hard for the authorities to maintain these places for the access of people. There are certain ways that can render a way out of this crisis.

The most prominent of the methods to keep museums working and yet accessible to visitors is initiating a private partnership in the management. It is undeniable that commercial organizations always seek profits, this would enable optimum utilization of available resources;  thus saving money lost on account of inefficient systems. Even though many fear that may also mean a hike in the access fee,  this can be kept minimal by using the annual government grants to subsidize tickets.

Others, however, propose more  practical ways that could help without making major changes in the management structure of these establishments: by leasing the spare spaces for private functions, social gatherings and programs, this would boost the revenues. Most of the museums are located in or near the city centers which makes them really an attractive option for social gatherings.

Similarly, there is a lobby that vouches  for more revolutionary ways, like integrating technology, and also opening up multiple facilities in the premises of these locations.   By using interactive technology, authorities can create interesting activities that engross children and adults alike, at nominal charges that people will readily part with.  This could help rouse fascination for such places among the visitors. Besides this, opening up movie theaters that focus on films specific to the subject of the museums could also be a great way to augment revenues.

In conclusion, I feel that private participation might not be an appropriate way out, but making these places interesting by offering interactive activities, besides rendering other facilities could do wonders.
