An alarming trend is on the rise across the world: there is waste  galore at the household, as well as the national Level. It becomes important to analyze the drivers of this propensity, and examine what policy makers can do to mitigate this emerging environmental concern.

Today, most are actually becoming addicted to the modern ways of life and choose comfortable living, and also behave irresponsibly: whenever one goes to shop, they  rather choose not carry their own bag, and instead look up to retailers to afford them the packing - that is trashed once the purpose is fulfilled. Moreover, society has become prone to wasting more than what is actually consumes, exacerbating the challenge.

Besides the domestic level, industry has also been contributing in monstrous dimensions to this environmental menace: the advent of new processing technologies has, although made it possible to imoprove the quality, for a given unit, manufacturers are utlizing more raw materials, causing an increment in the residue. A slew of environmental studies suggest that, today, the refuse is abounding by virtue of food and pharmaceutical producers resorting to modern product refining techniques that cause more wastage that the past.

As far as the solution to this menace is concerned, one factor can be a possible medium to bring down the rubbish is the strict governmental Control. The state is a sole Authority that can engender an environment for alleviating this menacing phenomenon by adopting a zero-tolerance policy for waste generation: incorporating stringent laws, imposing penalties; and alternatively, doling out incentives to individuals and industries can go a long way

In conclusion, onus of reducing the rubbish is actually a universal responsibility since it is the society that is source of this ecological jeopardy, but regimes, by virtue of leading the nation, should incept policies to dissuade the imprudent practice of generating garbage.
