The mass media, including television, radio and newspapers, have great influence in shaping people’s ideas. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

With communication proliferating and expanding to touch every nook and corner of globe, people have greatly become influenced by swings being propagated by disparate mediums of mass media, but some people feel this fails to have a sizable impact.

Due to its ability to penetrate faster and deeper across the topography and geography of globe and its capacity to carry loads of information, media has become a formidable means of informing people about the happenings and latest developments. Media can create awareness among people faster than anything else for e.g. a meticulous information campaign initiated by televisions channels after the gruesome rape of a girl in New Delhi in 2012 resulted in series of huge protests and demonstrations and people took to streets to demand justice.

Besides having faster and deeper penetration, media has capability of creating a cult and addiction among the viewers, listeners and readers etc. Various companies and agencies are using this medium to publicize their products and concepts. Moreover, they often go to extent of using popular public figures to promote their merchandise. Media has always played a pivotal role in creating factors that often compel people to follow what media propagates.

On contrary, there is sizeable section that feels the mediums of communication do inform people and society but they fall short of creating trends and swings because the opinions and viewpoints are premise of rational human beings and they always consult their own conscience before forming an idea.

In conclusion, I feel that media has, although appeared as prominent innovation, ideas and opinions are more effected by individual aspirations. Thus, this notion can be said to be partly true.

Academic achievement at school or university is the only true measure of a person’s intelligence. To what extent do you agree or disagree? - Ielts Essay

Today when more and more people are investing their financial resources and efforts to accumulate higher educational qualifications, a debate simultaneously rages across as to what can be taken as a true parameter to gauge an individual’s capabilities. Some definitely lean for academic feats while others feel natural instincts and experience gained over years has more impact on a person’s intelligence.- Ielts Essay

In last century there have been more venues established to impart higher education with people expressing strong intentions to achieve higher qualifications on grounds of their aspirations of gaining respect as being smarter and intellectual. For them, a good academic record is passport to improve employment opportunities. As per them, there is no parameter to gauge an individual’s capabilities on basis of natural instincts.
 - Ielts Essay
Besides personal and professional factors, as each field becomes more and more specialized, certain fields do need better educational feats. To enter in these professions and practice, one must possess minimum standards of education defined as basic specifications of relevant field for e.g. one cannot become a doctor or an engineer without getting minimum relevant graduation.
 - Ielts Essay
On the contrary, some sections firmly believe that intelligence is not at all a factor that has to have a stamp of varsities and degrees. It has been observed in past most prominent of the inventors and innovators had not even completed their formal education and their concepts still hold true and educated lobby actually follows patterns pioneered by them. Most prominent examples are Bill gates and Dhirubhai Ambani.

To conclude in my view there is definitely a link between a person’s mental capabilities and academic credentials, but that is definitely limited to only getting an initial boost and rest depends on an individual’s natural learning powers and abilities to negotiate situations.- Ielts Essay

More and more people these days work harder and longer hours and have no time for family life and friends. What are the causes in your opinion? How is it affecting family life and the society as a whole? Use relevant examples to support your view. Ielts Essay

With changing times, aspirations of people are transforming rapidly and there is a significant shift in priorities of many people who have started allocating more time to their professions. Many social scientists are rigorously trying to assess the elements that influence the inclination of humans towards spending more time at work and the impact this emerging trend is bearing on personal and social lives of people dedicating more time to work.
One of the most perceptible reasons for this ever increasing inclination of people towards their work includes desire of many adults to earn decent earnings. Having more financial resources at one’s disposal is always the most desirable factor because this aspect can help people ensure reasonable living standards and access to every imaginable facility and luxury. Moreover, with transforming lifestyles, people are lured to following desire of becoming richer which pushes them to work more intensively.
Similarly, other factors that greatly influence attitude of people towards their professions and force them into working profoundly are the rising demands for continued performance in the organizations and the need to establish one’s ability and skills to be considered for career progression. There is a rat race of sorts and every individual today looks forward to rising higher in organizational hierarchy which makes them give more time to their jobs.
Over involvement with professions is having adverse impact on the family lives of people as these individuals often find themselves in social isolation and disconnect and their social and personal lives are often torn apart. Leading a disconnected and isolated life can lead to several negative outcomes in terms of mental and physical health.
In conclusion, I feel it is necessary for each of individuals to balance their professional and personal lives to ensure a healthy life.

Ielts Essay Some people think parents should read or tell stories

Even though there has been a paradigm shift in the art of parenting when it comes to entertaining young ones, the practice of narrating tales has endured. However, an increasing number assert that this age-hold arrangement can be   superseded by modern means of leisure: TV and films, nonetheless I believe that the conventional method is irreplaceable.

With the new media being available to entertain children with cartoon movies and other more informative programs and documentaries, many parents feel that the traditional story telling has lost its relevance because modern media always has fresh plots and new stories to narrate which attract and influence young ones more than those repetitive and age old narratives which were once a routine in the parent child interaction.

Nevertheless, some sections feel that the traditional story telling can never be superseded by the newer channels of entertainment because both activities have different objectives. As per them, the television channels and children oriented movies are simple mediums of recreation whereas the stories narrated by mothers and fathers have a different objective because this assists in creating closer bonds between two generations.

Moreover, the old fables and stories which have been passed down the generations always have a positive impact on the mindset of children because each of these fables, legends and allegories carry references from the lives of great people who have lived in past and have pepetuated tales of bravery and great deeds to the next generations: all these depictions are educational and influence tender minds positively.

In conclusion, substituting the conventional practice of story telling with state-of-the-art means of narration is impossible and it will be carried down the generations forever. Its influence will endure infinitely despite advancements in technology.

With changing times, the concept of parenting has also undergone a rapid transformation: many have started using alternative mediums to entertain their wards; they do not think anymore that telling them stories holds any relevance because the latter have access to other mediums of entertainment including movies and television programs, but there are those who feel that traditional story narration is irreplaceable.

Ielts Essay - Should Visitors Adopt local customs

Today, when the world is fast transforming into a a global village, there is a strange agenda doing rounds among the moral Police, which feels that foreigners should follow local customs of the place they visit, while others regard this as a bias and think that the cultural diversity should be respected by the hosts.

With the World becoming a smaller place, intermingling and interaction among the people is on the rise. The visitors visit a foreign destination for leisure, cultural exchange and Business, and to experience Traditions and heritage of host nations. They cannot be expected to adopt the beliefs and ways of life of the natives and discard their own values for the sake of visiting. Such a cultural bias always poses a hostile view, which in turn, adversely affects the Visitor’s inflow. Even the immigrating people are free to continue with their traditions and cannot be forced to follow the local ways.

Besides this, in age of globalization, none can afford isolation and impress the Ghetto attitude, as this exposes the fanaticism of the native society, which adversely affect the communication between people. Moreover it is a fundamental human right to practice own legal traditions. The onus of ensuring this right lies on the Government and the community.

However, in some parts of the orthodox world, especially in the middle-east, where the western ways of life are totally incompatible, the western mannerism is sometimes too disturbing and way out of the imagination of the local populace, e.g. revealing clothes, kissing in public turns out to be insulting, which should be duly respected by the people visiting that part of world.

Overall, I personally feel that it is imperative that cultural diversity of the travelers be respected and duly safeguarded by the host country. Therefore, I concur with this notion.

Ielts Essay on communications

The modern era can be easily correlated to the revolution in communication where people from across the world have come close enough to be clubbed and termed as living in global village. This has simultaneously generated a controversy of sorts, among diverse sections of society, where some feel that this development is positive and will go a long way in bringing humanity together, but there are certain conservationist section who are completely critical of the new technological innovations.
The modern gadgets like mobile and satellite phones etc. introduced in past two decades are compliment advancements in technology. Innovations have made it possible for humans to communicate with each other as per their convenience. This has helped in expanding itenary of available communication alternatives and people have facilities of voice and video calling, along with emails and test messaging from single device. This has not only facilitated personal communication but also paved way for more convenient and cost effective business communications

On contrary, many people hold cynical views about these new developments. They feel, these introductions have fuelled isolated lifestyle where people prefer to live in isolation. With more convenient methods of reaching out to outer, world being available many individuals have resorted to shunning human contact which is adversely affecting social life and as a result traditional relationships and ways of life are being adversely affected.
  - Ielts Essay
Besides shunning social life, modern means of communications also incite people to develop unwarranted and dangerous habits like it is commonly observed that people use these gadgets even while driving, which poses a great danger to their and other’s safety.

In conclusion, I personally feel that even though newer means of communicating have some evils but these factors are insufficient to undermine the benefits they have bought along.
