Ielts Essay Transport Migration

Moving people back into the cities to rid of challenges posed by urban traffic and transportation, seems to be a radical solution and can go a long way in rendering an ease to the urbanites.
Many advocate implementing this idea and feel it could bring a sea change in  the way people live in urban societies. This view is primarily based on the assumption that the majority of motorists and public modes of transit that ply on/ use the city roads hail from areas lying outside the municipal limits of the urban locations. Those  entering and leaving the cities must brave long travel and distance every day. If these people were made to dwell in the same urban locations where they work, they would be spared of covering long distances every day. The shorter drive would only use the shorter stretches and that also for brief moments rather than hours. Similarly, this would affect limited parts instead of the whole urban road network.
Additionally,  since the brief commute and travel would also afford security to people, especially the women, youngsters and the elderly, many may feel encouraged to switch to public modes of transit like buses and metro trains if their homes and workplaces lie in close proximity to each other.Since these modes could also be used in the late evenings safely, further inspiring the commuters to use these. On top of that, many policy makers and town planners are quite optimistic that many fitness enthusiasts might also be inspired to abandon mechanized modes of transportation and switch to simpler means like bicycles. This would surely help in thinning the traffic.
Therefore, there is hardly any reservation to be expressed regarding the efficacy of this revolutionary concept, and I absolutely concur with the impact this will have on urban roads. Moreover, I feel this could also help stem urban sprawl, an indirect benefit
