Politicians are more responsible for protection of the environment than individuals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Ielts Essay - Environment individual or politicians
The agenda of pollution and finding ways to keep the environment clean attracts numerous controversies, the most significant being; who can play a pivotal role in this, an individual or a politician?

Politicians can influence environment protection policies positively, as they are people of great substance and power,  and can prevail upon the government, regardless of their political background, to  bring around changes in the policies, and establish initiatives that can affect the society and environment substantially. Environment, a more critical subject today, needs urgent and quick intervention at the macro level, or rather at a political level since a task of greater multitude, that has a bearing on the society, cannot be handled at the local level.
.
Furthermore, clean surroundings, being an issue of national stature and broader perspective, need planning and implementation at much broader scale. Political activities, by virtue of the recognition they enjoy and the resources they have at their disposal, can muster and mobilize enough support all across the country; form opinion among the masses; and effectively carry those clear messages to the government.

However, even though an individual may be a micro unit of a society, society has always taken cue from the initiatives established by men, of not big political stature but pious objectives. The subtle movements started by the individuals have led to revolutions, like a a small insignificant save tree movement called, Chipko movement, that was initiated by a school teacher in a humble village in state of Uttarakhand,  India resulted in bringing the environmental concerns of locals in Garhwal in the limelight , and force the authorities to form stern environment policy

To sum up, to ensure a clean and pollution free environment, both the individuals and political activists must play their respective roles.

Cycling has many benefits, yet in some countries there is a decrease in the number of people using bicycles as their main form of transportation. Why is it happening? Give suggestions how to encourage people to use bicycles again.

Ielts Essay- Bicycles in or out?

Bicycles have enjoyed a dominance for over a century, but now it seems that these simple two wheeled vehicles are losing their charisma, as more and more people are opting for more modern options. These are some obvious reasons for this, but people can still be encouraged to ride bicycles.

The reasons for demise of the humble two-wheeled mode of transportation are quite predictable. Today, when faster, more efficient and comfortable modes of transportation are available, nobody is interested in sweating it out on the roads paddling a bicycle. When reaching offices of places of engagement on time is a priority who would love to prioritize health. Furthermore, riding a bike would not only need a lot of efforts but maneuvering through traffic on this vehicle would also look quite odd, in fact bizarre and out dated, and no one would like to be assimilated to early 20th century humans.

Another reason that can easily be quoted here is that bicycles are losing their shine because people have become quite competitive and possessing a bike is no more a symbol of prosperity. The status of the friends and relatives is more easily gauged with the kind and number of cars and motor bikes possessed by people rather than the health a person is in.

However, a little judiciousness can help to make the old humble bicycle popular again. Raising the price of fuel, and levying heavy parking charges on the four wheelers and motorcycles would make travelling on fuel propelled transport medium expensive to drive  and costly to park. Declaring a car free day may also bring in desired results.

To conclude, the decline in popularity of bicycle although natural, its decline can stemmed to extent by prudent planning and implementation of well thought strategy.

Nowadays children are consuming too many sugar based drinks, what are the reasons and solutions for this situation? Discuss and give reasons for your answer in at least words.

Ielts Essay - Children and Soft Drinks
Sugary drinks have always been a health concern for the humans, as these drinks are laden with unhealthy ingredients. This problem takes serious dimensions when the aggrieved party is children. The health experts are bemused over the plausible reasons that make children go for more and more sugar based beverages, and are seeking possible solutions to this menace.

The increasing inclination for an ever increasing consumption of sugary beverages can be attributed to a significant rise in advertisements of cold drinks, getting celebrities and noted public figures to endorse these products and targeting the children primarily, as they are the most vulnerable group.  The kids tend to emulate celebrities and also their parents sometimes. This is coupled up with the precedents of their peer group and so it leads to reenactment of the story of the pied piper who led kids into a dark dungeon by playing a sweet melody on his flute.

On the top of that, most of the sweetened drinks are loaded with addictive content like caffeine that has an instantaneous effect on the drinkers. A drink makes drinkers feel fresh and rejuvenated, but it also makes them addicted to the content, and the children are the easiest prey to and ultimately make consuming cold drinks a habit.

But, there are solutions available close by, one only needs to apply them forcefully and prudently. It is suggested that parents should be forceful in forbidding the consumption of cold drinks at home, except parties. Stacking up refrigerators with homemade lemon drinks and ice teas is a much healthier option. Parents should also set examples for their kids by shunning beverages.

In the nutshell, the menace of consumption of cold drinks can be overcome easily provided some judicious steps are taken.

Some people think that watching sports in leisure time is just a waste of time. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Ielts Essay - Sports as Free Time Activity

Watching sports in free time is a likely option for a majority, but quite often, this free time activity is looked down upon with great disdain by detractors of sports. As per this section, this time could be used more productively though I completely disagree with the notion: this is a great way to distress.

Watching sports during free time has some drawbacks, as people tend to live vicarious lives, ape players and pretend what they are not. Cheering from sidelines, besides being unproductive, has a good potential to make people impulsive and aggressive, the fall-out of which can be unwanted unfortunate violence. Watching sports also leads to sacrificing whole day that could have been used to interact with family and friends.

However, watching sports in free time, is considered as the best and safest of the options. Watching a prefabricated and predictable story, in form of movies and soaps, is mundane and sometimes taxing for, the already drained of energy, people. The sports lovers do not only get a chance to watch the most exciting reality shows, in form of matches, but also get a chance to observe and learn about how teams, or players cope-up with the pressure, and make comebacks. These skills can be of immense help in real life, especially at workplaces.

This past time is laden with multiple benefits for physical and mental health. It helps viewers to vent out their pent up feelings of remorse, anger, aggression and frustration – when a team is underperforming, or losing – quite safely without any damage.  People also get a chance to experience jubilation while watching a match, this helps people experience excitement similar to players playing in the game.

Hence, watching sports in free time is better than many other ways of spending leisure time, and any criticism extended is a mere expression of those who are jealous of this pastime.

Ielts - Private Schools? Disparity?
Privately run schools have always been in the eye of storm over their role in terms of methods of imparting education. People have always felt that these institutions afford such benefits to their students which other schools cannot, so these should be closed.

Private schools nurture and further social concept of “Haves and Have nots", as they extensively invest into expensive educational facilities, which is out of reach of other schools. Smart class concepts, sprawling libraries and laboratories are a far cry for other institutions. Furthermore, involving experts from industry and other agencies and organizing competitive events, in an attempt, to provide extra exposure and foster intellect, among students, often courts controversies. These facilities create serious disparities in availability of equal opportunities in education, thereby impeding even spread of education, and thus creating a wedge between sections from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

Besides this, private schools often offer unnecessary frills of leisure activities, like swimming pools, etc. and extracurricular activities, like sports and art. This tends to place students of private schools a league ahead of their counterparts studying in other schools, as the pupils of other institutions are never able to cope up with the competition.

However, closing private educational organizations would be a recipe to disaster, as these agencies have brought about innovation in every aspect of education. The adoption of new methods to train the faculty, to deliver courses, and educate the students has resulted in churning out academic excellence. This costs a great deal money which is usually sourced from the students itself, and if someone is interested in availing such facilities then how can the private institutions be held responsible for being unfair to others.

Henceforth, closing private schools for such a lame excuse would be quite farcical and undesirable.
