Some people say that public libraries should be free, otherwise they are just a waste of money, especially because modern technologies and the internet allow easy access to resources. Discuss and give your point of view.

Library or IT

The advent of information technology has brought about drastic changes in the way people store information. This phenomenon has penetrated all walks of life, and some people have started suggesting that there is no need to maintain expensive libraries, though some feel that libraries cannot be superseded.

The modern technology has made life quite easy, enabling shrinking loads of information into very compact data. Now, even the gigantic databases including books, chronicles and other important works concerning history, research into various fields, etc., can be saved anywhere quickly. Similarly,  the saved information can be retrieved and accessed from anywhere: even right from the comfort of the homes and offices. An unimpeded saving and accessing facility has made electronic mode of storing and retrieving information almost indispensible, so there is hardly anyh rationale behing maintaining these cumbersome resources and charging visitors.

Moreover, compact databases on standalone machines or servers connected to cloud services do not require sprawling premises. Besides this, the information just needs simple backups to ensure loss of data due to certain accidents. Many find this mode of accessing books and other important material quite inexpensive when compared to multitude of funds required to maintain books and library premises.

However, the importance of libraries cannot be ignored at all, as these though this conventional but excellent way of saving information is deemed critical when it comes to storing original work; manuscripts; centuries old documents and other important research papers, etc., as originality is sometimes deemed more vital than just saving information. Nevertheless, they need money to sustain their collection; maintain their premises; and pay for the staff and expansion of their facilities. It is worth noting that government grants are rarely are sparse; therefore, these institutions must charge.

To conclude, I feel that libraries are part of heritage of any culture and replacing them is almost impossible, and they need to charge levy. Thus. they should be maintained and not offered for free.

Some people feel that Schools do not teach children how to stay healthy anymore? To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Some people feel that Schools do not teach children how to stay healthy anymore? To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Education and health of children have always been top priority. Since the advent of 20th century, appropriate focus has been laid on training children in academics and educating them about leading healthy lives. But as per some, the focus seems to be shifting as schools do not prioritize health education anymore, though there are some who feel otherwise.

The focus of educational institutions has gradually shifted to prioritizing academic excellence and finesse. To see this through, the faculties put whole hearted efforts into training students for better academic accomplishments. With the multitude of efforts being put into encouraging and preparing pupils for higher academic output, educational establishments are left with little time to teach young learners about leading healthy lives, for instance, several schools have shelved extracurricular activities from syllabus, and replaced them with academic discipline.

Moreover, although many schools still profess about ensuring comprehensive personality development of young learners, and such institutions heavily publicize various activities aimed at fostering healthy habits among children, much publicized talk about health education is merely a lip service, as the schools seem to be pursuing commercial goals, and they are least bothered about the overall development of the kids.

However, some people really feel that schools are still continuing with the mission of fostering healthy habits among the children, and even though the schools do not include any formal health programs in regular syllabus, the educational establishments regularly organize such workshops and activities that invite participation from established health practitioners and students. This in turn, inspires young learners to follow precedents of professionals, and learn about leading healthy lives.

To conclude, I personally feel schools seem to have lost the way in pursuit of better academic pursuits, and have ignored the need of teaching pupils about healthy lives.

Ban Mobiles In Public Areas
Mobile phones have revolutionized the world of personal communication but also invited a lot of flack as some people feel that these handy gadgets are proving to be more nuisance than being useful, and hence, people should be barred from using them in public especially  libraries and public transport, though there are some, who feel otherwise.

People using cellular phones tend to become insensitive towards others as they while talking to others on these small gadgets become oblivious of the surroundings, and are lost in their own world. Talking on phones takes them through a psychological transformation as they are not able to control their impulses and react immediately to discussions taking place on the phones, the reactions which often are loud and bland, and in process disturbing the people around. This disturbance easily upsets fellow commuters using public transport like buses and trains.

Moreover, these modern gadgets are equipped with numerous Apps and games, which tend to be addictive. The people using these facilities are always engrossed in playing games or chatting with other people with help of social networking Apps. This makes them ignorant of surrounding conditions, and they silently carry on behaving erratically and disturbing others in the process, especially ones sitting in peaceful environments like libraries.

Nevertheless, barring use of these gadgets in public would be unwise, as most people often make use of these gadgets to communicate urgent matters only. Moreover, while using these gadgets in public areas, people tend to be quite as most usually minding their own business and not disturbing others around.

To sum up, I personally feel that although some of the mobile users do behave erratically in public, this does not however imply that we should ban use of these gadgets in public areas.
